Nutritious Kunekune Pasture Pork
Many folks always ask me, “what makes our pork better?” Is it really that delicious? What is so special about kunekune pork? How can pork from a lard pig like the kunekune be so nutritious when the U.S.A. has spent decades creating a cookie cutter leaner commercial pork for consumers to purchase in grocery stores?
Last year, Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT) put out information on the health benefits of pasture raised pigs. This information provoked the the BOD of the Kunekune Pork Producers Association and Empire Kunekune Pig Association (which I am currently President of) to do some research of their own. A kunekune pork chop and a commercial pork chop were sent into a nutritional testing lab as blind samples and these are the exciting results. Our pork does not just taste better it is better for you!
