A Bit of My Story and what it has to do with the salami!

I’m Amanda, and I’m so excited to share a bit of my story and our farm’s journey with you today. For those who don’t know, my family and I spent 6.5 years living overseas while my husband served in the U.S. Navy. It was a time of incredible growth, discovery, and a deep immersion in the rich cultures and flavors of Europe. One thing that really captured my heart during those years? The passion and craft behind the cured meats—especially salamis. I quickly fell in love with the tradition, the history, and the art of these flavorful creations, and it planted the seed for what would eventually become MKONO Farm.

When we settled back down in the States, I was struck by how disconnected we had become from our food. The industrialized farming system, with its use of chemicals, antibiotics, and factory-farmed animals, was so different from the way we had seen food raised in Europe. I felt a calling to create something better—something that brought real, nutrient-dense food to our community. MKONO Farm was born from that desire to return to the roots of agriculture, where the land, the animals, and the farmer all work in harmony.

At MKONO Farm, we are proud to raise our animals using regenerative and sustainable practices. Our focus is on quality, not quantity, and we’re committed to producing the finest products possible—free from GMOs, antibiotics, or anything that doesn’t belong in a healthy food system.
