THE AMAZING KUNEKUNE PIG
The Kunekune (Koonie Koonie) pig is as fun to raise and enjoyable to eat as it is to say. A rare heritage breed that originates from New Zealand, the Kunekune’s small size and docile, friendly temperament make them the perfect breed for permaculture homesteads and small farms. Known for its ability to thrive on pastures loaded with grasses, clovers, and legumes, the Kunekune is an easy keeper. They are good mothers, easy to keep in large groupings, and don’t tend to challenge fences or roam.
As a heritage breed lard pig, they grow slowly and without the need for excessive amounts of feed. They produce a naturally red colored and deeply marbled meat with an outstanding and rememberable flavor.
THE GIRLS
The sows and gilts found here are the foundation of our breeding program. Whether we are breeding to create quality breeding stock, pets, or to harvest meat, these girls are exceptional in every way. At any given time we will have piglets for sale from several of these girls.
UPDATES IN PROGRESS as we add our current sow lineup…

Dove | Rebecca Gina
AKKPS 9169 | AKPR 7256
SUPREME CHAMPION
This sow has a heart that is as wide as she is. With amazing bone structure and width, Dove has blossomed into a pig that we strive to recreate in each litter born here.
Her show accomplishments:

Gracie | Aria Giana
AKKPS 1432 | AKPR 4061
RESERVE CHAMPION
Coming to us from a wonderful farm in PA, we are thrilled and honored to have this amazing girl in our herd. She is a fantastic mother and oh so sweet. She adds length onto everything she produces.

Little Carol | Kereopa
AKKPS 9177 | AKPR 10723
2X SUPREME CHAMPION
This girl is priceless and a character to boot. She has a wonderful long body, classic head type, and a big booty everyone enjoys talking about!
Her show accomplishments:

Keturah | Awakino
AKKPS 8099 | AKPR 24492
Keturah has stolen Amanda’s heart forever. She chats with us about all the things and passes this enduring trait onto her offspring! She is a very atttentive mother and with this sow line we are making improvements that we can pass onto other breeding programs.

Betsy
Jenny
AKKPS 9170 | AKPR 4508
Betsy is an amazing pig full of personality! She brings her beautiful face, length, and wonderful mothering skills to our herd.

Glory | Wilson’s Gina

Liberty | Jenny
THE GUYS
The guys have been hand picked and chosen for temperament, structure, and ability to pair nicely with the sows for incredible growth rates. Boars are the backbone of any herd and should be used to improve the sows they are paired with.

Duke | Ru
AKKPS 11818 | AKPR 7509
GRAND CHAMPION
This boy is the backbone of our operation. Duke produces thick boned, conformationally correct offspring. We particularly covet his pairings with Dove, Keturah, Glory, and Copper Penny.

Sawyer | Whakanui
AKKPS 17943 | IKHR 28085
CHAMPION
Growth. Growth. Growth. If you are wanting it, this guy produces it. At 1 year this hunk weighed in at 250 and at 18 months this guy was at 330 and still growing. He will be by far our largest produced and fastest growing boar to date. We are anticipating him adding that improvement alone into our herd and pairing him strategically with sow lines that need that improvement.
THOSE WE ARE THANKFUL FOR
This section contains sows and boars that have contributed to the genetics we have today. Some of them moved onto other breeding programs while others spent their last days on our farm. We are thankful for each of them.
